But Urbino is not the only jewel in this land. It seems that the light of the Reneissance’s Ideal City shines here, and is reflected again and again in the historic towns of Urbania, Cagli, and Fossombrone; in the villages with their churches and abbeys, in the farmhouses with their characteristic dovecotes.
Architecture in Montefeltro has two special features: the red terracotta of middle-class elegance and the solid quarry-stones of farmhouses exposed to the elements.
